Reaching the town didn't take as long as she had expected, and Delihla followed Avis willingly, and they had ended up on 15th street. The world of the humans here much more different than that of the world of the humans at the human pound. Everyone here walked around freely, while there they had been leashed up, sometimes many of them together on one chain.

OOC; sorry I didn't start a thread sooner, I kind of completely forgot!
BIC; Avi trotted ahead of Delihla, nails clicking on the pavement. She slowly decided where she was going, and turned toward the hound. "I'll take you to get food first." She said, looking over Delihla's shoulder at the horizon. It was the young dog's favorite time of the day. The sun had set but it was not yet dark, and what was once the sun was now a purple shadow in the distance while the sky was a deep navy blue. Avi could see as clear as day along the road for the street lights, but in the deepest alleys the shadows were pitch black. They were headed towards a garbage can. Much smaller than a dumpster, but Avi knew that it contained food even better than that placed in the larger metal containers. Every day a hot dog stand stood just next to this trash can, and every piece of food dropped or uneaten was tossed into it only to become a stray's next meal.

Happily Delihla followed after Avi. "Oh. Good! Food," she answered. After walking from where that roadkill had been, it had gotten her a little hungry, so she could use another meal. Big eyed, she followed as close to Avi as she could, while still trying to take in all the sights of the area. The buildings were huge! and the street was long lit with lights high up in the sky. The humans that passed by took no notice of the pair of dogs, which saddened Delihla slightly. For some reason, maybe she thought she would get here, and a human would take her in and love her and she would follow scents for that human every day!
Unfortunately, that probably wasn't going to happen, and Delihla drooped her tail and lowered her head, saddened now, and was content to just follow Avi to their destination.

Avi looked around. They walked on the crowded sidewalk, which was at least twice as wide as the border collie mix. She wove through the swarms of people, looking back to make sure Delihla was close behind every once in a while. There was another similar sidewalk on the other side of the two lane street, which was equally crowded. If given a choice Avi would not be around this many people, but it was either this sidewalk or the road, which was a river of cars, inching along through the sea of gleaming metal. On the side the dogs were on were shops, one after the other and all of them sharing walls. Some were lit, showing clothes, toys, and more through large windows and some were dark and empty. The city was brightened by street lights, one after the other with just over fifteen feet of space between each other, and signs that hung in front of the shops, labeling their purpose. There were carts from which delicious smells drifted, but Avi had learned that when she approached these she was given hostile looks and shooed away. Finally, though, they reached their destination. It was a cart much like the others, but this one was different. It seemed to welcome dogs, or at least not chase them away. Avi didn't head towards the cart, though, but just to it's left. She jumped up, resting her front paws on the edge of the garbage can. She reached in and immediately found what she was looking for. Pulling her head out of the container, she dropped two hot dogs on the ground, nosing one towards Delihla.
OOC; whoa it's actually not a short wimpy post

OOC;; haha, aww. they're never bad posts!

Caught in her sullen mood, Delihla didn't really notice the shops as they past by. Sure, her nose was working overtime with the scents that were wafting around, but she didn't care to really notice them, just filed them away in her mind to maybe investigate at a later date. She stuck close to Avi, her nose practically right on Avi's tail, as the pair weaved through the humans.
Upon reaching the trashcan, Delihla sat back and watched as Avi seemed to work her magic. The man working the cart near the trashcan smiled down at Avi and Delihla, but other than that, seemed not to notice them as he handed off hotdogs to a mom and her young son. When Avi removed her head from the trash with the treasures, Delihla forgot she was in a bad mood and her tail wagged, making a large arch across the sidewalk. She gratefully took the hotdog Avi offered her, and gulped it down quickly, nodding happily as she munched. "Thanks! I'll definitely remember this place!" she told Avi, then cracked a large yawn.

Seeing her new friend yawn, Avi thought about the places she had slept here before, and finally decided on where they would sleep. She had thought it over, and planned to stay with Delihla tonight, though was unsure if she would continue to travel with her or leave the other dog alone in the city. She suspected that she may end up staying in the city a few more days, so even if they parted they would see each other around town often. Avi would know what she would do once she figured out her next destination. She wondered if Delihla wanted to rest right now. Avi was still a bit hungry, though. She can wait another five minutes... She thought as she snatched another, half eaten, hot dog from the can, wolfing it down in two bites.

Delihla watched Avi grab another hotdog and she sat happily, her tail wagging back and forth on the pavement. She lifted her head and put her nose in the air, scenting everything that came their way. She could smell first and foremost, the hotdog stand, then the man who ran it, and then other carts on the street.
She could smell the fresh grass from over in the park a ways away. Yawning again, she closed her eyes and sat with a smile. The late afternoon sun was still warm on her face, although she could tell that the shadows of the building would soon be covering her. Humming softly to herself, she waited for the younger pup to finish her meal. You never knew when you were going to get your next meal, so she knew it was a good idea to eat as much as you could when you could.
