Mira sat down on the semi moist grass in the park, watching human children frolic about as their parents chatted casually while keeping a somewhat watchful eye on them. Today wasn't rainy or cloudy, unlike the weather recently, so the humans were taking advantage of the good weather, and Mira observed several families placing blankets on the ground and removing food from baskets. Salivating slightly, Mira flopped down and rested her head on her paws, hoping some humans would carelessly leave something behind as they walked off to play or explore.

Shadow smiled as he walked across the street he had been sitting there waiting for some food. The little girl saw him and had hidden some food behind a tree. Shadow moved quickly and picked up the sandwich eating it slowly enjoying the flavours. After he finished he noticed another dog waiting for some food for themself. He was curious so he walked over and sat down infront of the strange dog " hey im shadow who are you and do you need any help" he asked softly smiling.

Mira lifted her head and looked up at the young dog that had approached her. "I'm Mira," she replied, wagging her tail and grinning, "I'm just waiting for some humans to drop something." Pausing, Mira examined the dog more closely.
He appeared to be her age, but was fairly smaller than her. She'd bet he was fast on his legs, though. His eyes showed a level of experience that she did not possess, and she figured that the young stray had spent far more time on the streets than she had. "Have you been a stray for long?" she asked, hoping for some conversation. She missed having someone to talk to every once in a while.

Shadow smiled and nodded "all my life I was born and raised on the streets what about you " he said softly wagging his tail it was new to have company all he ever had was his sister so it was all new to him. Shadow lied down " mind if i join you im still a little hungry" he asked slightly cautious of this bigger dog but she seemed friendly enough and maybe they could be friends. He had never had a friend before. He rested his wwhite and tan muzzle on his paws and looks up at Mira with his brown eyes curious as ever.

"I haven't been on the streets very long," Mira replied, "Only about a month or two; I lose track." Mira rested her head back down on her paws. "And I don't mind if you join me."
Mira liked Shadow; he was friendly and curious, and he seemed to have a lot of energy. She sensed a bit of his caution but took no offense to it; it just showed he wasn't stupid and overly trusting.
Looking back toward the humans, she noticed a small group of young ones looking at them with apparent interest. Ears perking up, Mira wondered if she should approach them. Maybe they'd give her and Shadow a hand-out and some affection?

He smiled Mira seemed great they would get along he saw her looking at the kids and smiled. Standing up he looked at mira"follow me" he padded towards the kids and sat infront of them he whined a little and a short kid patted him gently before giving him a left over hot dog he ate it slowly and looked at mira "hurry up mira" he joked smiling

Mira followed Shadow toward the humans and watched as he begged for scraps. She walked up to one of the humans, a young adolescent (teenagers, as the humans called themselves) and sat down, panting a canine grin and giving him a beseeching look. The human smiled at her and gave her part of a hotdog, then scratched her behind the ears. Mira wagged her tail and laid down, hoping for more scraps from either him or the others.
Looking over to Shadow, she gave him a wag of her tail to show her appreciation; she decided not to thank him out loud, since humans seemed to get nervous when dogs barked.
(By the way, why do the area icons sometimes change from black to white backgrounds?)

He smiled accepting her apperciation with a lick to her cheek then he trotted off and lied on the soft grass enjoying the sun.

(By the way, why do the area icons sometimes change from black to white backgrounds?)When an icon changes color from the usual one, it means there is a new post on that board which you haven't read. If you click and go to the thread, or select 'Mark as Read' it will go away. It means you can check all the updates on the site in any thread without having to search and check the dates on everything- any new posts or topics are easy to find. Please try to keep posts about 100-150 words, so at least a long paragraph or possibly two  |

Mira decided to stick with the humans a little longer in a vain attempt at getting more scraps from them. However, she only got affectionate gestures, and soon trotted off. Seeing Shadow lying in the sun, she walked over to him. "I'm going to run around town; I've got too much energy I need to burn off and maybe I'll find more food."

Wagging her tail at Shadow, Mira turned and trotted off, hoping to burn some energy and find some food in the process. She planned to return to the park later, maybe in a few hours, and figured that if Shadow wasn't there (because she honestly didn't expect him to sit there for hours) she'd wait a bit and maybe track him down.
As she passed the run-down, abandoned area of the park that was closed off to the humans, Mira broke out into a run, and headed off to another area of the city.

Shadow smiled and watched her leave before sitting up and walking over to a tree his multicoloured coat shining
and swaying in the breeze he smiled and his brown orbs moved slowly around as he broke into a run chasing a flock of ducks laughing and barking his tail was like a black blur as he wagged and barked happily enjoying himself he smiled and finally settled down and walked back to the tree and lying down under it he shook vigorously and fell into a light sleep enjoying the afternoon sun

After a couple hours, Mira decided to head back to the park. Along her way there, she passed by the section of the park that humans never went to. It was decrepit and unmaintained, but she noticed that there were some large, metal tubes that children played in.
Those would be good shelter to sleep in, Mira thought to herself, thinking back on several occasions where she'd had to sleep out in weather that she had rather not've slept out in. Making a note of her observation, she continued her trot to where she'd left Shadow, and found him napping in the shade of a tree.
