Glaw attempted silence as he made his way through the piles of trash in search of a meal, though it seemed as if every step he took crushed some old egg shell or candy wrapper and every paw he lifted sent another garbage bag plummeting. He jumped at the sound of a sparrow taking flight, a box of empty soda cans tumbled, and the he slammed his front right paw onto a glass bottle. The dog yelped as pain shot through his paw pad and up his leg. Dammit. He thought. How am I supposed to find some decent food now?. Glaw limped down near to bottom of the pile, and settled for a few chicken bones and a quarter of a discarded ham, which seemed to have been at the bottom of that pile for at least a week. He wished for a friend. A real conversation with a real dog. Something he had been deprived of for three years. He wondered why he had left his sisters. He thought of how they played together as pups, and how they managed to find just enough scraps for the two months they were together. Glaw wished that he had been smarter than to leave his only chance at a good life. A life where he ate daily, and a life where he knew he was needed. He wished he had been, and was now, more than a foolish puppy. It was after he finished his small meal that he noticed the blood. Glaw's paw was bleeding badly, and looking at it only made it hurt more. He sat for a minute, feeling it throb, almost getting used to the feeling. "Dammit!" He cursed aloud this time. "What did I do?!" He began to lick, thankful when the blood flow began to slow. Standing, Glaw began to leave. There was nothing good here, anyway.

Dainty as ever,Ah, spring. The beginning of it all. Once the year ends, the new year begins. And spring is what becomes of the world. Still, it was early enough that nothing happened to be birthing just yet, and food was scarce. A trip through the junkyard wasn't her favorite pastime, but when you're belly was hungry, what else are you supposed to do.
Fritzie stepped lightly through the area, constantly keeping both an eye on her path and a nose to the breeze to hope for a tasty treat. Lifting her nose, she caught the scent of blood and froze. Blood wasn't a good sign. She glanced around and then she heard him. She turned and spotted him, then cautiously made her way towards him. "Are you alright?" She asked, keeping her distance. Watch me flit away...

Glaw jumped as he heard the other dog, though decided not to take her as a threat. "Who are you?" He asked, more for of lack of a better response than curiosity. Although this dog appeared to mean no harm, Glaw was still cautious and knew that any other dogs could potentially be competition for what little food he managed to find. After a moment, he realized that the dog had asked a question. In his surprise he had not clearly understood what she said, only that she had said something. "Oh. I just stepped on something, I'm fine." He said, slightly defensively as not to show weakness. Glaw turned, preparing to walk away.

Dainty as ever,
"Oh," she quietly said as he exclaimed he was fine. He had a rough personality, she could tell. Almost like Vice, but not quite. He turned to leave and she blurted out before he could leave."My name is Fritzie. Are you looking for food? Did you get enough? I know a good section where they dump a lot of food..." Fritzie trailed off as she realized that she was rambling. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable, but the winter had been hard, and after losing her father again, she just wanted a friend. It had been so long since she'd heard from Vice, but she at least could make a friend.

"I'm Glaw. I got some food... but it would be nice if you showed me where more was." He answered, glad for her kindness. Fritzie... He thought. That's an interesting name. As he rarely met another dog, Glaw didn't have exceptionally good social skills. He liked to try to guess the history of any other dog he came across, and she seemed to be a bit lonely, maybe like she had lost someone, though he couldn't be sure. He wondered what other dogs though of him, guessing it probably wasn't anything good, but he decided to try and make a good impression on Fritzie, as he rather liked talking to others besides himself.

Dainty as ever,
A large grin spread across her face. Glaw, he said his name was. And he was willing to follow her to the food area of the dump. "Okay! Follow me!" she turned to lead the way. Knowing any dog would follow after another willing to show them more food, she didn't glance back to make sure that he followed.
She lead the way through long cement tubes, under stacks of cars, around a tall tower of old tires and squeezed through the smallest space between two cars. Once through those last cars, she moved a large piece of metal to reveal a tunnel through a large pile of garbage. Crouching down she crawled through the tunnel and they came out on the farthest side of the dump.
Finally, she looked back at the male. "Here is were they usually dump the good stuff. It likes to rot, and they dont care for the smell for some reason." she looked back at her spread. Old pizza's, hamburgers, hotdogs, pasta's. All of it looks fantastic in the eyes of a dog, and smells even better through the nose. "Dig in, there will be more in a few days. They bring in the good stuff about every 7 days." she sat down, proud of her stash.

Glaw trotted after Fritzie, following her across the junkyard, slightly favoring his injured paw. He just barely fit through some of the smaller spaces, being slightly larger than her, but he immediately knew that getting here was worth a struggle as the smell hit his nose. His ears came forward and fur stood on end when he saw the expanse of food before him. Barely hearing what Fritzie said before she sat down, he rushed into the sea of food, quickly pulling an almost whole pizza from under a cardboard box. He quickly snapped up half of it, then moved on to licking clean a pile of chicken bones, though he soon found that they didn't have much meat and continued nosing through the garbage. He lifted his head and, panting, said to the dog nearby "This is great, thanks Fritzie!" He thought briefly about making this his home, though soon became distracted by a turkey carcass. After he finished eating, Glaw jumped onto the hood of one of the smaller cars, lying down in the sun.

Dainty as ever,
Fritzie smiled as the larger dog attacked the food like he had not eaten in weeks. The best and worst part was, it was probably true. She was glad that she could at least help one dog, even if she couldn't help all dogs.
She sat where she had stopped, lifting her nose to the sky to pick up the slightly warm rays from the sun beating down on them. The scents in the breeze were both refreshing and stomach aching. She could pick up the fresh breeze coming from the edge of the dump, then the smell of the food, and that was something she needed to conserve. It was okay with her for him to get his fill now, but hopefully he didn't plan on gorging all of it every time he came. She knew she wasn't the only dog who came her, and she wanted to at least make sure that everyone else got enough too.
She opened her eyes when he rested on the car hood. "Now Glaw. I brought you here because i trust you. I trust that you'll only come here when all else fails, and that you only take enough to tide you over. I know that we are not the only dogs who know of this section. And it would be rude to always come and gorge. We have to help each other, to get help from one another," she spoke to him, glancing over at him.

"Oh... of course." Glaw agreed, for he had planned to enter the city to live a new life, and maybe to join a pack. A pack would be wonderful. He would love to be around other dogs, working together to find food and shelter. The only thing he hated about the idea of being in a pack, however, was the fact that territory is established and marked, and that the border between two packs would be occasionally questioned and fought over, and he hated fighting. Glaw decided, though, that he would find the most established pack, maybe who's borders weren't challenged as often as those of another would be. He narrowed his eyes as he looked up into the brightness of the sky. Suddenly, he stood, decided that it was time to move on. He he eaten just about as much as he could, and thought he wouldn't be hungry for the next three days. "Thank you again, Fritzie. I'm moving on now, goodbye." He said, jumping down from the car.
