General Pack Info
Males are dominant to females. Only dogs can claim territories.
Leaders must be two years or older. The only exception is the Monarchy, in which there may be an heir to the throne, but no dog younger than two years will be allowed to challenge in hopes of taking over the leader's position nor are they able to claim territory.
Pack lands are not first-come, first-served. For the first week or two, dogs may gather in the pack lands to attempt to claim one of the territories as their own. There will be a great deal of havoc and fighting during this time but any dog willing to accept a lower rank is welcome to sit at the sidelines and wait it out.
Leaders will be granted respect. For six months Torn Leather Time, no dog may challenge a new leader.
A leader may only be challenged by the same dog once. If a dog has already challenged the leader and lost, they may not challenge that same dog again. If a new leader is crowned, they may challenge that dog but only after the customary waiting period.
Leaders accept or deny new members. They may send another out to do this for them, but it will generally be the leader making the final decision about who stays and who doesn't.
Leaders won't necessarily be friendly to trespassers. There is a big difference between a dog who comes in and politely asks to join while showing submission and one who strolls around thinking it owns the place.
Leaders make the rules, but need approval. If a large portion of a pack doesn't support the addition of a new rule or removal of an old one, things will often remain unchanged. The leader needn't follow this, but it is usually the best idea.
Leaders must agree with the basic ideals of their packs. While there may be a thing or two they would like to change about the pack or something they wished they could add to the rules, they must have the pack's basic interests in mind and a kind, placid dog will not be a good ruler to a violent pack and will probably be overthrown. It is best not to claim or challenge for a territory unless it fits your character's personality.
While new packs may not be started, gangs or other such groups are a very real possibility. The lead dog must be at least two years old and there may be no less than five members.
